This article explores the issue of fostering a gender-based approach to family values in adolescents. It analyzes the essence of the concept of gender, the influence of social aspects of women’s and men’s roles, and their educational significance. The author reveals the role of the family institution in society, its significance in the system of spiritual and moral values. From a pedagogical point of view, gender equality, the harmony of national traditions and spiritual heritage are defined as the main criteria for forming a value-based attitude towards the family in students. Also, the article provides practical recommendations for teachers and parents, describes existing problems and ways to solve them
