Turkestan Jadidism: the struggle for knowledge and progress

Abstract

This article analyzes the emergence of the jadidism movement in Turkestan in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, its main goals and objectives, as well as its influence on political and educational changes in the region. The jadids sought to develop Turkestan through science, education and culture, whose movement contributed greatly to the process of raising enlightened consciousness and building a national state. The article also covers the jadids’ struggle for political freedom and social justice in Turkestan society.
