Abstract

This article provides a comprehensive analysis of consanguineous marriages from a historical and cultural perspective across various countries. While such marriages were historically practiced to maintain social unity and preserve family property, modern genetic research has shown that they pose significant hereditary risks. Worldwide, approaches to these marriages are aimed at reducing genetic risks and protecting the health of future generations. Consequently, this issue has become a serious topic of consideration in legal and social contexts in many countries.
